p.1
The provision is outstanding
Children arrive at the childminder's home excitedly and hang their coats and bags on their named peg. The childminder provides an extremely welcoming, calm and highly stimulating environment. Children demonstrate the exceptionally secure and trusting relationships they have built with the childminder as they spontaneously leap on her for cuddles and hugs. They beam with happiness as the childminder warmly smiles and cuddles them back. Children demonstrate that they have excellent self-esteem and a strong sense of belonging.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
The childminder has high ambitions for children, who make excellent progress in their learning. She takes every opportunity to help to develop children's extensive language skills. The childminder models language clearly and pronounces new words correctly, such as 'downpour'. This enables younger children to extend their vocabulary skills. Children develop their ability to recognise and respond to their emotions through the childminder's focus on this area of the curriculum. For example, she encourages children to place their hand on a 'fairy worry hand' and to describe their worry in detail to make it go away.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
Children display exemplary behaviour. They are very respectful to each other and confidently share ideas during play. Children recognise and respond to the needs of their friends exceptionally well. For instance, as younger children try to push the scooter along the floor, they notice that the wheel is stuck. Older children quickly come over to free the wheel to help their friends. All children develop strong, nurturing friendships with their peers.

need to do better?
n The childminder provides children with excellent opportunities to develop their independent exploration, to test out their own thoughts and ideas. Children are given excellent opportunities to develop their independence. For example, children use different objects to paint on a large plastic sheet. The childminder encourages them to think about the different textures and what will happen when they squirt water on the painting. Children enthusiastically use home- made water bottles with control to create a masterpiece, laughing as they do so. The childminder extends children's curiosity by asking them to think about what the painting might look like after it has rained. Children consider this question carefully and agree that it might look like 'a pink cloud dripping down'. n The childminder is very proactive in her approach to improving her own practice. She recognises that she can 'never stay still as there is always something to

learn'. The childminder uses training exceptionally well to improve her knowledge and understanding. For instance, she has recently taken the time to research how to improve safety online to support this area of children's learning.
p.2
need to do better?
28 June 2023 She has sourced age-appropriate books to help teach children how to keep safe online. This has allowed the childminder to fully understand potential online concerns and how to act to ensure children's safety. n The childminder has an excellent understanding of how to support children's personal, social and emotional development. She places the upmost importance on getting to know children and their families well. The childminder has an exceptional understanding of what children already know and what they need to learn next. She tailors the curriculum skilfully to meet all the children's individual needs. The childminder plans exciting and highly stimulating experiences. Children engage in these quickly and with enthusiasm. For instance, the childminder reads a book with the children and encourages them to join in with the story, adjusting their voices and tone as they do so. Consequently, children

develop a love of books and stories and develop an extensive vocabulary. n Partnerships with parents are outstanding. Parents are exceptionally pleased with the progress their children have made. They comment that the childminder regularly exceeds their expectations and that the relationship between them and the childminder is 'based on trust and flexibility'. The childminder shares children's learning with parents and gives them examples of how they can further support children's learning at home. This complements the learning gained at the childminder's setting and improves outcomes for children. Parents are particularly pleased with how well their children have been nurtured and the excellent learning and development opportunities provided for their children. n The childminder works extremely effectively with schools and other settings that the children attend. She shares key information regarding children's learning and

She has a secure understanding of who to contact should she need to make a safeguarding referral. The childminder implements robust risk assessment procedures to help keep children safe while they are in her care. She is highly conscientious about children's safety and welfare. Children take part in evacuation drills and learn about effective road safety.
