p.1

This provision meets requirements

Children are happy, confident and well settled in the warm and welcoming environment. There are effective systems in place to make sure there is a good handover of information about each child's day between school staff and club staff. Children are very familiar with the routines when they arrive at the club. They know to hang up their belongings and wash their hands before enjoying a nutritious snack. They chat to the staff and their friends about their day and what they want to do at the club. Young children are settled and demonstrate they feel safe and secure. Staff are attentive and kind and develop secure relationships with all children.

This provision meets requirements

Staff plan a range of enjoyable and exciting activities, based on children's interests. For instance, children enjoy painting activities, where they paint and create insects using vegetables. They learn to follow instructions and gain an understanding of some insect features, such as identifying the potential age of a ladybird. Children are engrossed during activities. They curiously explore and share their experiences with one another. Staff have high expectations of children's behaviour. They support children to fully understand and follow rules and routines well. Staff are good role models. This helps children to demonstrate respectful and polite behaviour towards each other.

n The arrangements for settling children into the club are effective. Staff collect detailed information from parents before children start at the club and get to know the children well. Children are assigned a key person, so that they have a familiar adult to form a relationship with as they settle in. Children already know some staff because of their roles within the school. This help to provide continuity of care for children. n Staff are mindful that different children have different needs at the end of a school day. They know that some children will want, and need, to play energetically, and other children will need to play quietly. They use the available space well to provide good opportunities for both. n Children are confident communicators, who enjoy sharing their ideas and experiences with the staff and other children. They have plenty of opportunities to develop their social skills and interact with children of all ages. Throughout
