Summary of outcome
All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage, which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 29 January 2023, the provider notified us of an incident where a child, or children, were, or may have been, at risk of harm from the provider's dogs which resulted in a serious injury being sustained. The notification means that the provider met their legal responsibility as set out in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage to notify Ofsted of a significant event.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 30 January 2023, we also received concerns in relation to the above incident from safeguarding partners.
p.1
Summary of outcome
We suspended the provider's registration on 31 January 2023 because we believed children were, or may be, at risk of harm. Suspension allows time for the provider to take steps to reduce or eliminate the risk of harm to children. The provider has a right to appeal against a suspension. The provider may not provide childcare for which registration is required while the suspension is in place and may commit an offence if they do so.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 22 March we interviewed the provider regarding her practice and the safeguarding of children in her care, and again on 12 April 2023. We found that the provider had improved her knowledge and understanding with regards to ensuring the safety of children in her care and fully understood her responsibilities as a registered childminder.
p.1
Summary of outcome
The provider has also taken action and completes risk assessments to ensure the dogs do not have contact with minded children. This is in line with the legal requirements for registration so that children's health and safety are not compromised.
p.1
Summary of outcome
In addition, following police intervention a Voluntary Control Order (VCO) was imposed on 26 February 2023 in relation to the provider's dogs and to ensure that children are appropriately safeguarded at all times. This means the provider must ensure that the dogs must not be in the company of children during minding hours, the dog is on a lead in a public place and third-party insurance is kept up to date.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 18 April 2023, we lifted the suspension because the provider had taken appropriate action to deal with the matter that led to the suspension. We were satisfied that the identified risk of harm to children had been removed.
p.1
Summary of outcome
The provider is still registered with Ofsted.
