p.1
The provision is good
The childminder and her assistants are warm, caring and friendly. Children have very positive relationships with them. As a result, they are settled and content at the setting. Children's behaviour is very good and they demonstrate positive attitudes towards attending the setting. Children benefit from plenty of freedom to play, investigate and explore, which is positively encouraged. They learn to cooperate with key care routines play well with others. Children can make their own play choices throughout the day and develop lots of independence skills as they grow.
p.2
The provision is good
Children enjoy the outdoor ethos of this child-centred setting. The childminder adopts a forest school approach alongside promoting children's learning 'in the moment'. She has created a self-sufficient forest environment at the bottom of her garden, which is equipped with an outdoor toilet and handwashing facilities. Children have fun and get messy, which they love. Children spend long periods engaged in their self-chosen activities, including hunting for bugs and insects, painting on large fabric sheets and mixing water and mud. This ignites their curiosity of the natural world and supports their creativity, and they develop their own ideas. All children progress well in their learning.

need to do better?
n The childminder has an ambitious vision for her curriculum and is an effective teacher. For example, when interacting and engaging with children, she captivates them and enhances activities to promote their individual learning needs. However, the curriculum is not always implemented as well by her assistants. They do not make the most of interactions with children to sharply focus on their key next steps or fully extend their learning. n The childminder has recently reviewed her practice regarding how to promote communication and language. She teaches children vocabulary that is based on the topics they are exploring, which has recently been plants and bees. She is an advocate for good role modelling and has introduced a new approach to repeat back language to children clearly and extend it by introducing additional words. n The childminder and her assistants frequently read stories with children.

They enjoy the climbing apparatus and negotiating obstacle courses made of crates and planks alongside their friends. n The childminder and her assistants have undertaken appropriate training, such as safeguarding and paediatric first aid. The childminder's assistants say that the childminder is very supportive and that she cares about their well-being. The childminder supervises her assistants and frequently monitors their practice. worked with the early years improvement team to help her to make improvements. She has plans to continue supporting her assistants to develop their teaching skills and wants them to gain more confidence. However, this is not yet embedded in practice to secure the best outcomes for all children. n Parents are very complimentary about the childminder. They comment she has helped their children to flourish, grow and develop. They feel that the childminder offers a nurturing and stimulating environment and say that their children are content. They also say that the childminder is supportive and offers them lots of advice and guidance as needed. This helps to foster continuity in children's care and learning.
