Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC456795 1 SC456795 Registered provider: Cambian Childcare Limited
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is owned by a private company. It is registered to provide care for one child who may have social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home has been without a registered manager since July 2022.
p.1
This monitoring visit
At an assurance inspection on 1 February 2023, the inspector found serious shortfalls in the quality of care and protection that the child was receiving. There was considerable damage to the house, which presented risks to the child’s safety.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The management team and staff did not demonstrate the capacity and skills to manage unwanted behaviour or keep the child safe in a homely environment. This compromised the safety, experiences and progress of the child living at the home. Therefore, Ofsted issued compliance notices on 8 February 2023 under regulation 12, the protection of children standard; and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This visit took place to monitor the action taken by the registered person to meet the compliance notices. The inspector found that the registered person is unable to demonstrate that improvements have been made to meet the compliance notices.
p.1
This monitoring visit
No children have lived at the home since 14 February 2023. The registered person has not appointed a permanent manager to be in day-to-day charge of the home. There are no staff currently employed to work at the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered person has made sure that repairs have been carried out. Broken windows have been replaced. The bathroom door has been repaired and is fitted Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC456795 2 with a suitable lock. However, the decoration and refurbishment of the house have not been completed. The child’s bedroom does not have furniture or window coverings. Consequently, the house is uninhabitable until this work is completed.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The absence of a manager and staff team and the current physical condition of the home mean that the registered person is currently unable to provide care and support for any children at this home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Following the visit, Ofsted has imposed a condition on the registered person that they must inform Ofsted of their intention to admit children three months before a child will start living at the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The effectiveness of the improvements and their impact on children’s experiences and safety could not be evidenced during this monitoring visit. This is because children are not living at the home. Therefore, the requirements made at the last inspection remain in place. The home’s progress in meeting these requirements will be reviewed through Ofsted’s inspection activities after children start to live in the home.
