Children are encouraged to persevere. If a child feels deflated the childminder stops and encourages everyone to have a go. For example, children were playing a game and one child gave up as they were not winning. The childminder encourages them to take part by saying 'it's about the effort and never giving up, you can do it.' The childminder then encouraged the other children to support the child by cheering for them. The child happily joined the game again.
