Findings from the inspection
We did not identify any serious or widespread concerns in relation to the care or protection of children at this assurance inspection.
p.2
The care of children
Since the last inspection, one child has moved out and one child has moved into the home. Two other children have remained living at the home.
p.2
The care of children
The most recent child’s move into the home was well planned. Information was shared between professionals to ensure that the staff were able to offer the correct level of support and care. As a result, the child has been able to settle into the home and is building good relationships with the staff team.
p.2
The care of children
Overall, children are making good progress. All children are attending school and have plans for their futures. Two children are being supported to move home or closer to loved ones. This is in line with their wishes and feelings.

The care of children
Children have personalised their bedrooms. Their bedroom doors no longer have a buzzer that activates each time it is opened. As a result, the home now has a welcoming feel to it.
p.2
The safety of children
There have been times when children have raised concerns about staff practice. This has been thoroughly investigated, and ongoing support for the child has been put in place.

The safety of children
Staff focus on rewarding positive behaviours. Consequences are rarely used. However, when they are, the manager ensures she has a good level of oversight of this to ensure they are appropriate.
p.2
The safety of children
The home has experienced difficulties with its online systems. This led to information not being recorded and shared as the manager would have liked. On one occasion, staff failed to follow strategies put in place to keep a child safe. This allowed the child the opportunity to go missing from home overnight. Reflection and learning with the staff team have started to take place to help ensure this does not happen again.
p.2
The safety of children
The home’s fire risk assessment is now up to date and any actions arising from this have been completed. Assurance inspection report for children’s home: SC476231 3
