p.1
The provision is inadequate
The childminder does not assure children's welfare, because significant weaknesses in her leadership and management compromise their safety. The childminder is in breach of requirements relating to assessing the suitability of her assistant. This means leaving children alone with adults who have not undergone the correct suitability checks with Ofsted. In addition, there is a lack of proof to ensure that she has the required records, documents, and proof of training. That said, children are happy and settled in her care.
p.2
The provision is inadequate
The curriculum is not ambitious or well designed. Children make do with what is offered and they are not making good progress effectively, as much as they should do. The childminder does not ensure that children receive challenging, high-quality, and stimulating learning experiences. The learning resources are not reflective of children's individual age and stage of developmental or offer stimulating challenges. Learning experiences are limited because the curriculum planned for them is not effective. The childminder does not build on what children already know and what they need to learn next. This has a negative impact on children's next steps in education.
p.2
The provision is inadequate
The childminder builds warm relationships with the children and they are confident around visitors and, in general, children behave well. However, occasionally there are times when the childminder overlooks negative behaviour without intervening to continue to build on children's understanding of right from wrong.
p.2
need to do better?
n The childminder has not informed Ofsted that she has an assistant working with her. Although, Ofsted was notified of this person, the required checks for assessing suitability to work with children have not been completed. This puts children at risk from harm with adults not suitably vetted by Ofsted. n The childminder does not manage her provision effectively to ensure that she fulfils the registration requirements. She has failed to update her own professional knowledge and skills. This means there are significant breaches in the service provided. This impacts on children's safeguarding and welfare, and their learning and development. n The childminder is unable to provide access to relevant records and documentation. For example, children's required records are not as required, attendance records are not fully maintained as required, and she is unable to provide proof of her paediatric first-aid qualification, and public liability

insurance. Therefore, children's safety is not assured. n The childminder has a limited understanding of how to assess children's current stages of development. Although, she can talk about what children like to do,

need to do better?
4 April 2023 she is unsure of what the gaps are in their learning and cannot explain her plans effectively to support them. n The childminder plans some activities for children, such as tracing their name. However, she does not know what they need to learn next, the quality and range of stimulating learning experiences are limited. Children become restless as their learning needs are not being sufficiently met. n Children have some opportunities to develop their interest in early reading and writing, but there are missed opportunities to extend on this. For example, books are stored in closed containers. n Children are familiar with the childminder and her family; they arrive happy and talk freely with the childminder and her family members. n Children are generally able to address their personal needs and gain levels of independence with routine tasks, such as handwashing. However, resources are not always accessible within their reach. For example, no access to a towel to

dry their hands. n The childminder's lack of awareness of the requirements means she is unable to fully evaluate her provision and plan appropriate, targeted improvements for her setting.
p.3
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
There are significant breaches in the welfare requirements. These relate to using an assistant without ensuring all required checks are undertaken with Ofsted, not able to provide proof of required records, no proof of first-aid qualifications, and no proof of public liability insurance. This compromises children's safety. However, the childminder does have a basic understanding of the roles of the different safeguarding agencies and understanding of what to do should there be an allegation made against her, or somebody living or working in her home.
