Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC061158 1 SC061158 Registered provider: Radical Services Limited

p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This home is one of several children’s homes operated by a private company. The home provides care and accommodation for one child.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

There is a manager in post who is not yet registered. We last visited this setting on 22 September 2021 to carry out a monitoring visit. The report is published on the Ofsted website.

p.1

This monitoring visit

A full inspection of this home took place on 3 August 2021. The home was judged inadequate. Ofsted served two compliance notices under regulations 12 and 13.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The provider made the decision to close the home on 16 September 2021. This was confirmed in an email to Claire Deary, the regulatory inspection manager, from the senior area manager for the organisation, Amanda Quinn.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Ofsted then imposed a condition that the provider must inform the Chief Inspector of their intention to accommodate children at the home at least three months before any child is accommodated. This was due to no manager or staff team being in post and the unsuitable conditions of the home environment.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The provider submitted a request to have the condition lifted on 1 March 2022. At that time, however, a manager was not in post. The manager and staff team have since been recruited.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This monitoring visit was to assess the progress made by the provider to recruit a suitable manager and sufficient staff team, and to ensure remedial action has been taken to address the physical environment. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC061158 2 No children are living at the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The responsible individual has recruited a manager for the home who is applying to register with Ofsted.

p.2

This monitoring visit

A staff team has been recruited to the home, including five staff and a manager. Another member of staff is currently being recruited. Two senior care workers have transferred from another home run by the provider. This will provide a consistent level of support for the child who will also transfer from the same home.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Safer recruitment practices ensure that new staff are safe to work with children. The manager provided evidence to show that the staff team has undertaken core training. The responsible individual has updated the statement of purpose to reflect the changes that have been made. Suitable supervision and appraisal systems are also in place.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Remedial work to the physical environment is now complete. The home has been fully redecorated and furnished to make it a pleasant place for children to live in. There are suitable arrangements for staff to sleep at the home. The provider has made appropriate improvements to provide care for children.
