This provision does not meet requirements

n Partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and other factors, the childminder has not cared for young children since her registration. During this time, her paediatric first-aid certificate has lapsed. At the time of the inspection, the childminder was booking this important training. However, failure to maintain a full current paediatric first-aid certificate is a breach of registration requirements. n The childminder knows how to keep children motivated in their play and learning. She refers to her Montessori training and passion for art. This helps her to explain how she would plan an interesting programme of activities, and outings, to spark children's interest. She uses praise to manage their behaviour in a positive way. n The childminder would work closely with parents to plan an interesting curriculum based around children's interests and abilities. This includes children who might need extra support from other agencies to help them to catch up

with their peers. She understands the areas of learning that must be taught. n The childminder emphasises the importance of children's confidence and early language skills. She is very aware of how these impact on all aspects of a child's learning and development. She knows how to help children to be prepared for the next stage in their learning. This includes their readiness for school. n The childminder would provide children with a healthy diet. She understands the nutrition that children need to build strong healthy bodies and minds. The childminder stresses the importance of spending time outdoors. She recognises the positive impact the outdoor environment has on children. This includes their learning, development, and good health. n The homely premises are kept clean, safe, and suitable for childminding. There is a good range of resources in the playroom and garden. These are likely to be of interest to children of all ages and support their play and learning.

n The childminder knows when family difficulties can impact on the care of children. She also identifies when children could be at risk of harm or abuse. She is committed to securing support for children who need it. The childminder understands the importance of children's good mental health. She knows how they use behaviour to communicate when something is upsetting them. n A full suite of documentation and record forms are in place. The childminder has developed useful links with the local authority for support. However, she does not have a written complaints policy. This is a requirement for registration on the compulsory and voluntary parts of the Childcare Registers.

This provision does not meet requirements

17 April 2023 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
