This provision does not meet requirements

n Children's safety is compromised. The childminder has not kept up to date with statutory safeguarding training. She does not hold valid insurance for the property to which she has recently moved. Her safeguarding knowledge is incomplete. She does not demonstrate the necessary knowledge to be able to recognise signs that children make be at risk of harm. n The childminder has not kept up to date with statutory first-aid training. This compromises children's health. However, she does have processes in place for the recording and appropriate storage of children's medicine. She is aware of the need to follow effective safety procedures around children's sleep times. n The childminder does not have a secure understanding of the stages of children's learning and development. She does not demonstrate how she will plan a curriculum built on children's prior knowledge, to offer suitable challenge for children of all age ranges.

n The childminder is able to discuss some ways in which she would promote a love of books with her children, through story times and opportunities for role play. She speaks of how small-group story times prepare children to be able to join in with group work at the next stage of their education. n The childminder sees value in regular trips to the local park, where children can have opportunities to develop their physical skills and to learn about the seasons. She considers the risks that may be posed to children while learning away from the setting. She seeks to minimise risks by teaching children how they can keep themselves safe. n The childminder understands that effective settling-in processes impact positively on children. She seeks to form attachments with them by finding out about what they like to do, before they start at the setting. Her child–centred, individual approach to settling new children is planned to help them feel

comfortable and secure before they fully commence their placement with her. n The childminder speaks confidently about how she would keep parents informed about key information as to their children's learning, development and welfare by sharing daily logs with them. She works with parents to find out key information about what children can do when they start a placement with her. However, she does not then use this information to plan effective and challenging opportunities for learning. n While the childminder has ideas about how to plan provision and visits beyond the home, she is unable to demonstrate what she wants children to learn from trips. She has not kept up to date with her professional development to improve and develop her practice.

This provision does not meet requirements

30 March 2023 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
