Information about this children’s home
This children’s home provides care for up to 47 children with autism spectrum disorder and/or learning disabilities. The children’s home is on the same site as a special school run by the provider. The inspectors only inspected the social care provision on this site. The home currently provides care across four houses to 15 children and young people. The home is owned by a private national organisation.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit took place to review the staffing arrangements of the children’s home following a number of staff from another children’s home within the same organisation moving to this home to work. This visit monitored the steps taken by leaders and managers to ensure the safety of staffing arrangements in this home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have managed the transition of a large number of re- deployed staff well. They hold clear discussions, setting out expectations for staff conduct and practice. Managers ensure staff receive support. Leaders and managers carry out observations of the quality of care in the home. However, oversight of incident reports has not been timely. As a result, practice issues are not identified at the earliest opportunity.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Managers follow up safeguarding concerns when they are identified. This includes reporting concerns to safeguarding authorities as necessary. Responses to safeguarding concerns and investigations are swift. However, for one incident, the management oversight of information gathered during fact finding did not identify discrepancies. As a result, additional scrutiny of the incident did not take place.
