Staff have received further training since the full inspection. This includes training in autism spectrum disorders and tablet communication systems training. There are plans to enhance the staff training programme further to include training in a particular eating disorder, the Picture Exchange Communication System and Makaton. A new training matrix has been implemented. This increases the manager’s capacity to track staff development and ensure the needs of the children are met. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC436818 2 Managers have recently completed training in how to formally supervise staff. This gives them a better understanding of what good reflective supervision should encompass. As a result, staff have had opportunities to reflect, build on existing skills and constantly develop their practice.

This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have increased their oversight of incidents in the home. The introduction of a daily duty manager audit ensures concerns are reported and escalated when required. All children’s files have been moved to the home’s office. Each child’s care records are kept in an individual locked cabinet. This makes records accessible to managers and staff. Managers now ensure oversight of records is completed in a timely manner. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC436818 3
