This monitoring visit
On 8 February 2023, an Ofsted inspector visited the home. The purpose of the visit was to assess whether the home is ready for children to move in.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The home has sufficient staff to safely care for one child. Managers intend to admit more children once they have recruited additional staff. The responsible individual shared with Ofsted a 12-month home development plan. This outlines the provider’s plan to admit three children into the home over the next 12 months.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There is a new staff team. Experienced staff from other homes in the company now work in the home. New staff have also been safely recruited. The responsible individual and the registered manager have considered staff skills and experience. They are focusing on developing and upskilling the new staff team. This is to ensure that staff can adequately meet children’s needs. Staff recruitment is ongoing. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC476262 2 Staff have completed a range of training to assist them to care for the children who are likely to live in the home, for example bespoke training in the organisation’s therapeutic model of care in addition to training about child sexual exploitation and safeguarding. Managers have also undertaken this training.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered manager has reviewed the templates for children’s risk assessments. This includes risk assessments before children move into the home, for example to determine the risks and needs of other children living in the home and to assess staff’s training and skills. These documents should provide clearer guidance and focus for staff about risk.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The registered manager has updated their review of the premises. They have consulted with external professionals, who now provide regular updates. As a result, the location risk assessment now reflects all known risks in the local area.
