Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC064117 1 SC064117 Progress Children’s Services Limited

p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This home is privately owned and is registered to provide care for up to six children with learning disabilities.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The home has been without a registered manager since 24 February 2021.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 7 and 8 December 2022. As a result of the concerns identified, five requirements were raised under regulations 12, 13, 16, 28 and 40 of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This visit examined the progress made by the manager and staff in meeting these requirements. The inspector found that regulations 12, 16 and 40 are met. Regulations 13 and 28 are not yet met. A further shortfall was identified during this visit. As a result, a requirement has been raised under regulation 37.

p.1

This monitoring visit

One child currently lives in the home. Staff are now following the risk assessment that is in place to keep the child safe. There have been no further incidents of the child being able to leave the home without staff supporting her.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The statement of purpose has been updated. It is reflective of the staff working in the home and is clear about the resources available.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There have been two incidents since the last inspection. These have been well managed by staff and work has taken place with the child afterwards. These incidents were not serious. Therefore, they did not need to be reported to Ofsted. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC064117 2 Work has been carried out to assess the training needs of the staff to be able to better support the child. The identified training has started to take place and dates have been set for further training. Managers are now tracking staff’s progress through supervision. The impact of this training remains untested.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There is an improving picture regarding staff being provided with supervision; however, this is still not in line with the company’s policy.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff rotas do not hold staff’s full names. Furthermore, on occasion, they contain nicknames. As a result, a requirement has been raised.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Although there is a manager working in the home, she has not applied to register with Ofsted. Therefore, this requirement remains unmet. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC064117 3
