Reasonable progress
Since the previous monitoring visit, leaders have made substantial improvements to their safeguarding arrangements. They have appointed an experienced designated safeguarding lead and have increased the rigour of procedures, enhanced staff training and embedded topics relating to safety into the curriculum. Leaders have now established an effective culture of safeguarding.
p.2
Reasonable progress
Leaders have comprehensive policies in place for safeguarding, including for the recruitment of suitable staff to work with vulnerable adults. They have improved their use of risk assessments for on- and off-site activities, such as going to a swimming pool and visiting a local donkey sanctuary. Staff use a rigorous process to consider carefully the risks of the visit, both before and during the activity, and plan control measures effectively for the needs of the group and individual learners.

Reasonable progress
Staff are suitably trained in safeguarding topics, including the risks of radicalisation and extremism. Leaders share frequent updates with staff and provide opportunities to discuss these topics in meetings and lesson walk-throughs. Recent training in online safety included an insight into the latest social media platforms and how misogyny is propagated through incel culture and the manosphere. Staff use this knowledge to teach their learners how to stay safe. Monitoring visit: Future Horizons Leeds Limited, 20 January 2023 Leaders ensure that the curriculum is planned carefully to include frequent opportunities to teach learners about staying safe. The curriculum includes topics such as online safety and healthy relationships. Leaders are particularly focused on ensuring that learners can give or withhold consent and communicate if something is wrong. Learners are taught how to stay safe in a way that is appropriate for them as
p.2
Reasonable progress
Learners feel safe and know who to tell in college if they have concerns. They know how to keep themselves safe when offline, such as ‘stop, look and listen’ for crossing the road and not using distractions like mobile phones. They understand how to stay safe online, including not accepting requests from strangers or sharing photographs. Monitoring visit: Future Horizons Leeds Limited, 20 January 2023 regulates and inspects to achieve excellence in the care of children and young people, and in education and skills for learners of all ages.
