p.1

The provision is good

Children have a strong bond with the childminder. Those that returned after the pandemic settled back into their routine quickly. Children are confident and developing good communication skills. Children combine the spoken word, simple sign language and actions to communicate. Children enjoy the learning environment the childminder provides. They find things that interest them because the childminder knows them well. For example, children recently noticed their reflection. The childminder created an indoor sandpit with a mirrored floor and children enjoyed looking at their reflection while filling and emptying containers of sand.

Children explore resources and find a counting line made from conkers and bobbins. They are very proud to show off their counting skills as they count how many there are. Children match different-sized numbers and place them into their correct container. Children are very confident of their physical skills. They ask if they can show how they can jump and go on to try to hop on one foot when challenged. Children remove toys taped to the floor. This is one way the childminder encourages them to use their small-muscle skills.
