p.1
Information about this children’s home
The manager registered with Ofsted in 2017. She also manages another home for the organisation that provides care for one child.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This visit took place to monitor the actions taken by the provider in relation to compliance notices served on 21 October 2022. The notices were served against regulation 12, the protection of children standard; regulation 13, the leadership and management standard; and regulation 35, the behaviour management standard.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There is currently one child living in this home. They have remained living at the home since the last inspection.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered manager has made progress to improve the quality of risk management plans in place. Plans now reflect the identified and emerging risks to the child and provide staff with strategies to follow to minimise these risks. Staff spoken to during the visit were clear on the action they are to take in order to keep the child safe.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There is improved oversight from the home’s registered manager. Records of incidents now demonstrate they have been reviewed by the home’s manager to identify any further actions that may be required.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered manager has taken steps to ensure that fire safety in the home is improved. Fire exits are accessible to children to ensure that they would be able to safely leave the home in the event of an emergency. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC061438 2 Since the last inspection, two members of staff who worked in this home have left the organisation. Alongside some familiar staff, a new, permanent staff team is now working with the child and gradually getting to know her. This means that the child will be cared for by a consistent staff team.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection, there has been one incident of physical intervention. The registered manager has had oversight of this incident, and de-briefs with the child and staff are clearly recorded.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff have completed additional training to ensure that they have the skills to meet the child’s needs. A trainer in the organisation’s behaviour management model has attended a team meeting to support staff on the safe use of physical intervention. A two-day course is confirmed to take place at the end of this month for the staff who require this.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection, changes have been made to improve the home environment. The child’s bedroom has been redecorated to their own individual tastes, and new carpets have been ordered. The home’s bathroom has been fully refurbished, and there are plans in place to continue to make improvements to the quality of the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The home’s statement of purpose has been sent to Ofsted. This means that the regulator has up-to-date information about who is working at the home. This requirement has therefore been met.
p.2
This monitoring visit
A number of requirements were not explored as part of this monitoring visit and will be reviewed as part of the next inspection. However, sufficient progress has been made for Ofsted to assess that the compliance notices have been met. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC061438 3
