The provision is good

Children, including those that speak English as an additional language, make good progress. They benefit from a broad curriculum that helps them to develop new knowledge and skills. Children enjoy making their own choices based on their interests, and the childminder is good at following their lead and making adjustments, to make learning relevant to children's individual needs.

p.2

The provision is good

Children have fun participating in water play. They show good engagement as they experiment with bubbles and different capacities, pouring water and filling different-sized containers. This helps to develop their concentration and early mathematical skills. They also enjoy exploring play dough and making a variety of shapes. This helps to develop their creativity and awareness of shapes and sizes. Furthermore, children show good sharing and turn-taking skills, as they play imaginatively with some toy food. While they play, the childminder offers commentary and introduces new language and words.

the childminder does not extend children's new knowledge and learning to the very highest level. n The childminder keeps all mandatory training up to date. For instance, she completes paediatric first-aid training in order to respond to a medical emergency if one was to arise. Despite this, the childminder does not take advantage of other professional development opportunities. This means her practice and the quality of education is not stretched to the highest possible level.
