The provision is good
The childminder offers a calm, caring and nurturing environment for children. Children and babies demonstrate secure attachments and are happy in this setting. Overall, the childminder carefully considers the curriculum for children and builds on what children know and can do. Children take part in a variety of age- appropriate activities. For example, they enjoy cultural music and dance, write letters to Santa and talk about how to be safe when on walks in the community.

The provision is good
Babies' individual routines are well catered for. Babies show delight in exploring treasure baskets filled with scarves and materials. In addition, they enjoy mimicking the childminder's facial expressions in back-and-forth interactions and through ready, steady, go games.
p.2
The provision is good
The environment is rich with language spoken in English and Spanish. The childminder develops children's language skills through rhymes, songs and stories. Children's behaviours and attitudes are good. They are polite, considerate and show excellent manners. When walking to school, children show an understanding of pedestrian safety and say, 'thank you' and 'you're welcome' to others using the footpath.

n The childminder develops a good curriculum which covers all the areas of learning within the early years foundation stage. Overall, she is able to demonstrate how to develop activities and how she considers the next stage of children's learning appropriately. The childminder has systems in place to monitor children's progress. n Children's communication skills are good. Older children communicate freely and are given opportunities to express themselves. For example, the childminder develops children's thinking by asking them questions about what they may be doing at school today. During these conversations, she builds on children's knowledge of mathematics and literacy. n Older children, including those who speak English as an additional language, have the opportunity to speak and learn English and Spanish. For example, children confidently count beyond 10 in both languages. They label items, such as their coat, shoes, and which fruit they wish to eat. Babies contently respond

23 November 2022 settling-in policies. She describes how she gains information about children and their families from their starting points in learning. There is regular communication with families to support children's ongoing development and any concerns are quickly addressed. This shows effective partnership with parents. n Children listen to instructions and demonstrate that they are able to contribute to helping to keep the environment clean and tidy. They cooperate and understand the childminder's 'golden' rules. The childminder uses lots of praise and encourages children to talk about their likes and dislikes. She actively listens to how children are feeling. n Children are offered a range of balanced meals at the setting. The childminder ensures that children eat healthily and have time to talk about what they are eating. This encourages children to build healthy habits from an early age. n The childminder has taken an active interest in developing her skills and

knowledge of early years developments. She has attended a wealth of training led by the local authority. This includes training to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The childminder shows she reflects well on her practice and demonstrates how she rapidly makes adjustments to improve the quality of children's care, learning and experiences. n On a few occasions, the childminder does not expand and enhance babies' learning during activities. However, the childminder recognises what she could do to enhance and broaden experiences for younger children.
