p.1
The provision is good
Children establish a positive relationship with this dedicated childminder and each other. She is patient and attentive to the needs of all children. Children are happy and settled. They benefit from the childminder's calm and positive attitude. This impacts greatly on children's overall behaviour and their emotional well-being. The childminder consistently values the views of children. For example, the childminder encourages children to choose from a range of books and decide what they would like to eat during mealtimes.
p.2
The provision is good
Very young children enjoy listening to stories the childminder reads. They listen intently and keenly point to pictures. This helps to further develop children's love of books and early reading skills.
p.2
The provision is good
Children develop a positive sense of self. For example, young children excitedly look in a mirror and say their names. They correctly point to their 'nose', 'eyes' and 'teeth'. Children learn about their local community and the environment, such as when they go on trips to local toddler groups and parks.
p.2
The provision is good
Children's home languages are supported very well. The childminder gains key words from parents in children's home languages when they first start. While children play and learn, the childminder provides many opportunities for them to develop and use their home languages. This helps to further promote children's sense of identity and uniqueness well.

need to do better?
n The childminder has improved her practice, knowledge and skills since the last inspection to a good level. The childminder has successfully reflected on her childcare service and welcomed support and advice from the Lewisham early years team. The childminder has accessed training to help to develop her curriculum intent. Nevertheless, the childminder recognises areas for further improvement, such as to develop her good teaching skills further. n The childminder carries out daily safety checks of her premises and when planning outings. She takes all necessary steps to minimise or remove all hazards to children. This helps to ensure children are kept safe and from harm. The childminder consistently encourages children's good behaviour to help them learn how to keep themselves safe. n Overall, the childminder plans a broad and individualised curriculum to meet the individual needs of children. Children keenly and independently access toys and

resources. However, there are limited opportunities for children to select a range of natural resources that help to further ignite their growing curiosity. n The childminder knows what children can do and what they need to learn next.
p.2
need to do better?
15 November 2022 She skilfully follows children's interests and encourages them to lead their own learning. Consequently, children make good progress from when they first start. They are well prepared for the next stages in their learning and when they move on to school. n Young children are introduced to early mathematical language by the childminder. For example, she encourages them to count toy ducks, recognise colours, size and shapes. Children make good attempts to count up to 10 in English and the language they speak at home. n Partnership with parents is effective. The childminder gains in-depth information from parents before children start to support a consistent approach. For example, she takes into account care routines, food preferences and allergies to help to keep children safe and promote their emotional well-being n Parents welcome settling-in sessions when children first start to help them to

settle quickly. They appreciate up-to-date information about their children's learning and development. Parents build positive relationships with the childminder from the start.

Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder has recently undertaken safeguarding training to help to keep her safeguarding knowledge current. The childminder has a good understanding of the different types of abuse. She understands her responsibility to report her concerns to external agencies. The childminder is vigilant when planning outings. She considers the number of children present, their ages and places to visit. This helps to ensure their safety. The childminder is trained in paediatric first aid and is confident to deal with medical emergencies.

should:
n access professional development opportunities to further develop the already good teaching skills and maximise children's learning n increase opportunities for children to select and explore a range of nature recourses, to help to support children's growing curiosity.
