p.1
The provision requires improvement
The provider has implemented changes that have improved the nursery, and this has resulted in a positive change to some children's behaviour. For example, most children settle quickly at activities that interest them. However, the behaviour displayed by some children is still not appropriately addressed. This means some children do not learn about, or understand, the consequences of their actions and the impact their behaviour has on others.
p.2
The provision requires improvement
Children are happy as they arrive at the nursery. They leave their parents with ease and settle quickly. Since the last inspection, the provider has taken steps to enhance the learning environment. This means that children engage in activities and experiences that reflect all areas of learning. This helps to build on what children know already.
p.2
The provision requires improvement
Children join in with singing and story times, and they listen well. Staff introduce a wide range of words and language. This supports children's communication and language development. Staff use open-ended questioning to help children to think further. However, sometimes, staff do not give children sufficient time to think and respond to their questions.

need to do better?
n The provider has taken a range of positive steps to address the weaknesses identified at their last inspection. For example, risk assessments have been reviewed and changes made to the outdoor environment to improve children's safety. The regularity of staff meetings has been improved, and this has helped staff come together and reflect on the provision. Staff interactions are more meaningful and support children's learning and development. n Staff support children's health, such as encouraging them during appropriate handwashing routines. Children eat their packed lunches together, and staff help them with unwrapping their food. However, staffing arrangements do not always promote the safety of children when they are eating. For example, while staff supervise mealtimes, they are undertaking additional tasks, such as taking children to the bathroom and helping children to remove coats when they come

in from outside. This means children are not consistently supervised while eating. n The provider supports staff's continual professional development. More frequent staff supervisions are now in place to help staff look at and reflect on their own learning and professional development. Staff speak positively about feeling part of a valued team and how they have been involved in the changes made. n Staff encourage children's personal, social and emotional development. For example, children enjoy the role and responsibility of 'helper' of the day. The

need to do better?
1 November 2022 children assist staff with tasks, such as preparing snack and setting the tables. This helps children to interact and cooperate with staff and other children. n The provider and staff team reflect on practice regularly. They have already implemented changes, such as parents coming into the setting to spend time reading with their children, and parents speak positively about this. In addition, they have plans to implement further initiatives, with support from their local authority, to improve the nursery. n The key-person system has improved. The provider and staff team group children by ability and work closely with children to support their learning and development. For example, staff carry out regular observations of their key children and discuss these together at their team meetings. This helps all staff to know where children are; therefore, they are able to support children better

during their play. n Children have regular opportunities for daily outdoor play. They enjoy regular music and movement sessions, where they can dance and move freely. This helps to improve their physical development, control and confidence. n The provider responds appropriately when concerns are highlighted that children may have additional needs. She responds in a timely way so that children receive the appropriate care and support they require. This means families receive access to relevant services and other agencies. n Partnerships with parents and other professionals are positive. Parents speak warmly about the staff team and the changes implemented since the last inspection. Staff provide parents with feedback about their children's learning and next steps on a six-weekly basis. However, the daily handover between staff and parents does not support a regular two-way flow of information to help parents support children's learning at home.
p.3
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
Staff are aware of possible signs that may indicate that children are at risk of harm. They demonstrate a sound understanding of the safeguarding issues that may affect children and families in their local and wider community. Staff know the procedures to follow if a concern is raised about a child's welfare, and they know what to do if they are worried about adults behaving inappropriately. The provider and staff team undertake appropriate training and discuss safeguarding at their regular staff meetings. The provider supports staff to develop and improve their knowledge of safeguarding. This means staff are aware of current practice and procedures.
