p.1
The provision is inadequate
The childminder continues to fail to meet the statutory requirements of the early years foundation stage (EYFS). The childminder's lack of understanding of the EYFS affects her ability to provide safe and stimulating care and education for children. However, the childminder is kind and builds warm relationships with children in her care. For example, she comforts children and reassures them if they become tired or unwell. The childminder praises children regularly and teaches them to be kind and polite. Young children learn to say 'thank you' and they build friendships with their peers. However, the childminder's care practices, such as those for eating and sleeping, compromise children's health and well-being.
p.2
The provision is inadequate
Although the childminder has started familiarising herself with the learning and development requirements of the EYFS, this is not fully understood or embedded. As a result, the quality of learning experiences and interaction from the childminder are not good. For instance, the childminder provides activities to keep children busy, but does not have a plan for why they are provided and what she aims children to learn from those activities. Children have limited opportunities to make choices and explore their own ideas and interests. The childminder knows the children in her care well and has some ideas of what they should learn next. However, she does not use this knowledge effectively to help children to develop. For example, the childminder wants children to become more independent but does not implement it throughout the day. Consequently, children do not learn skills of completing simple tasks for themselves. The childminder's lack of

understanding of how to teach restricts children's communication and language development. For example, she does not use a wide range of words through her interactions with children to improve their vocabulary. Stories and books are not provided routinely, and when children ask for them, the childminder does not encourage this interest to further extend children's learning.

need to do better?
n The childminder has not addressed actions raised at her last inspection. Her lack of understanding of the EYFS has resulted in further breaches of the statutory requirements. This means that there continues to be significant weaknesses in self-evaluation and the quality of care and education provided. n The childminder does not help children learn to be healthy. She does not ensure she provides healthy, balanced and nutritious meals, in line with the government healthy menu guidance. This means that children do not receive a range of essential nutrients at each meal, that they need to grow and develop. n The childminder does not make sure safety equipment is in good working order to keep children safe in the event of a fire. Neither does she ensure that nappy changing practices prevent any cross-contamination.
p.2
need to do better?
18 October 2022 n The childminder has not familiarised herself with the latest government safety guidance around sleeping arrangements. For example, she does not know how to put infants and young children safely for sleep and what equipment is approved for safe sleeping. This puts children's safety at risk. n The childminder has eliminated hazards identified at the previous inspection. However, she has failed to identify other risks to children's safety. For example, she does not consider what risks there are to young children when planning activities. This means that some resources are not suitable for young children's play and puts children's safety at risk. n The childminder has started familiarising herself with guidance on how children develop and learn. However, she does not plan age-appropriate experiences for each child that builds on what children already know and can do. For example, she focuses on mathematical development with children under two years old

when they have not yet developed the communication and language skills they need to fully understand. In addition, the childminder does not allow enough time for children to think and respond to questions. This does not help children to extend their vocabulary. n Children enjoy activities, such as playing with water, both inside and outside. However, the childminder does not respond to children's development and emerging interests. For example, she is aware that some children love pressing the buttons on the toys. However, she does not provide opportunities or resources where they could enjoy and explore this interest. n Children enjoy access to fresh air on a daily basis. They also learn about nature and how to look after the childminder's pet rabbits. n The childminder has improved communication with parents and regularly updates them about their child's day. Parents provide positive feedback.
p.3
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are not effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder does not ensure that Ofsted is informed about required changes within 14 days. This includes information required for Ofsted to assess the ongoing suitability of those living or working on the premises. The childminder continues to fail to accurately record children's attendance and have effective risk assessments in place to keep children safe. The childminder can describe different types and signs of child abuse and knows how to report concerns about children's welfare. However, she does not know the correct procedure to follow if an allegation is raised against any adult living or working on the premises. This is because the childminder's safeguarding policy is not in line with the guidance and procedures of the local safeguarding partnership. In addition, the childminder has failed to comply with data protection legislation and keep any personal data stored electronically safe and protected.
