This provision does not meet requirements

n The childminder's setting is based outdoors and uses a forest school approach. She emphasises the importance of children learning in a natural environment, having space and fresh air to play in and aims to provide opportunities for children to explore and to be curious about the world around them. The childminder cares for a range of animals at her setting and she emphasises the importance of teaching children to be kind to each other and the animals in their care. n The childminder does not have a current understanding of the legal requirements for educational programmes and how to use these to implement a broad and balanced curriculum. While she has an ambitious vision for her setting and is passionate about the benefits to children of learning outdoors, her knowledge is not up to date with changes to the early years teaching and inspection framework. n The childminder is aware of some of the potential risks to children at the site

and has put in place procedures to keep children safe. For example, she ensures that the site is secure, she provides fresh water for handwashing before mealtimes and she understands how to teach children to identify risks themselves, such as identifying nettles. However, the childminder's risk assessments do not always take full account of the potential risks to children on site, such as barbed wire fencing being accessible to younger children playing. While she understands the need to have first-aid equipment available in her setting, the childminder has not undertaken recent paediatric first-aid training. n The childminder understands the risks to children from possible signs of abuse as well as some wider aspects of safeguarding, such as risks to families from extremism and radicalisation. However, she has not maintained her professional development by updating her knowledge, policies and procedures to reflect

changes in legislation. She understands how to find information that she may need, but documents are not always readily available on site, in order to support her practice. n The childminder is proactive in welcoming families to her setting, so that children can learn to be safe and secure and enjoy learning together. She understands the importance of sharing information with families, for example, when undertaking a check for two year olds. She has not yet developed effective partnership working with other professionals, in order to support parents to seek advice when needed, to meet children's learning and development needs.

This provision does not meet requirements

21 October 2022 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
