Summary of outcome
All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage, which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 7 October 2022, the provider notified us of a significant event where a child in their care was given too much medication. The notification means that the provider met their legal responsibility as set out in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage to notify Ofsted of a significant event.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 19 and 20 October 2022, we carried out regulatory telephone calls and viewed documentation supplied by the provider. We found the provider was not meeting some of the requirements. They had failed to ensure that all staff followed the medication procedures, which resulted in a child being administered the wrong dosage of medication. The provider has completed a thorough review and leaders have made changes to existing policies and procedures to help prevent a reoccurrence.
p.1
Summary of outcome
In addition, we found further breaches of requirements. The provider has not ensured that only staff who have had relevant checks to confirm they are suitable, are counted in ratio. Furthermore, the provider does not collate all of the required information before administering medication. Records of a child's need for medication is not consistently kept. Written permission is not gained from parents for each medication that is administered.
p.1
Summary of outcome
The provider will be able to give parents further information about this.
