Information about this children’s home
This home is operated by a private provider. It is registered to provide care for up to three children, who may have social and emotional difficulties. At the time of the visit, there was one child living in the home.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
There is a manager in post who registered with Ofsted in January 2022.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 8 and 9 June 2022. Following that inspection, Ofsted issued three compliance notices, in respect of regulation 12, the protection of children standard, regulation 13, the leadership and management standard, and regulation 14, the care planning standard.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Ofsted also issued a notice restricting accommodation at the home, with effect from 13 June 2022 until 11 September 2022.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A monitoring visit was carried out on 3 August 2022. Following that visit, Ofsted issued two further compliance notices, in respect of regulation 12, the protection of children standard, and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard.
p.1
This monitoring visit
During this latest monitoring visit, the inspector confirmed that the registered provider had complied with the conditions in the restriction notice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Risk assessments now provide improved clarity about the risks to the child and the strategies that staff should use to reduce these risks. Risk assessments have been Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2630055 2 reviewed regularly and updated when a risk changes. Staff have read the child’s risk assessment and understand what action they must take to keep the child safe.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Greater oversight and evaluation of records in the home have resulted in improvements to the quality of care provided to the child. The child has made measurable progress since the last visit. For example, the child’s routines have significantly improved and they have been well supported to prepare for their first day at high school.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff have received report-writing training. Records of significant events are improved. These records now provide sufficient information about the safeguarding actions that staff have taken. Through effective monitoring, the manager ensures that appropriate actions are taken following incidents, including supporting the child to reflect on their behaviour.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff are receiving consistent supervision, which is supporting the development of good practice. Records of supervision sessions are detailed and evidence that identified actions are now being completed within an appropriate timescale.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff have received training in subjects that are relevant to the needs of the child, for example self-harm. The manager has provided opportunities for the staff to reflect on this training, to ensure that this is implemented in practice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
During this visit, the inspector did not consider the requirements and recommendations that were made at the last visit. These will be considered at the next inspection.
p.2
This monitoring visit
A case review was held following this visit. It was the decision of the case review that the actions contained in the compliance notices had been met. However, an additional requirement was issued in relation to regulation 14 which will be considered at the next inspection. It was further decided that the notice restricting accommodation at the home did not need to remain in place. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2630055 3
