p.1
The provision is good
The childminder has a strong drive and desire for all children to do well. The home environment is carefully organised, so that children have access to plenty of resources. Children develop their small- and large-muscle skills. They access a designated space called the 'fun area'. During the inspection, children were observed in this area having a burst of energy. They vocalised with excitement while interacting with their peers. They learn to behave well and respect each other.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder and her co-childminder are warm and friendly. They are responsive and know when children need to be comforted. Children form close bonds with the childminder and her co-childminder. The premises are suitable, so that children are made to feel safe and secure. The childminder has a good knowledge of the local community. Children have access to green spaces to support their physical development. The childminder plans activities to give children meaningful experiences, and embeds these into their play. For example, children are taught about their different body parts and what belongs to them. This helps them to learn to respect each other's privacy.
p.2
The provision is good
Children develop their independence skills through well-designed routines. They learn how to use cutlery and drink from a cup. The childminder recognises when children show an interest in particular activities. She uses children's interests to plan further opportunities to practise their skills.

need to do better?
n The childminder has a good knowledge of child development. She understands what children need to learn across all areas. The childminder provides interesting and exciting resources, and children have tangible experiences to embed what is being taught. For example, children can recall the names of different animals and know what sounds they make. The childminder also sings songs, such as 'Old MacDonald Had A Farm', to further embed children's learning. Furthermore, children are given the choice to interact with animal figures. Children go on trips to the local farm, to help them to have experiences of the world around them. However, the curriculum intent is not focused enough, which means teaching is not sequenced consistently across the whole curriculum. n Children follow the routines in place. They are happy and enjoy being in the childminder's home. The childminder strives for children to be independent by

1 June 2022 prompting to keep on trying. This helps them to sit and focus on activities for a period of time. Children enjoy playful interactions. They hold up plates to look through them, and the childminder teaches them new vocabulary, such as 'transparent'. She explains that this means they can look through it. Children laugh and giggle as they repeat this interaction. n The childminder knows children well and recognises when they might benefit from other activities to practise and develop new skills. For example, children attend a toddler football session as a result of information and feedback shared with parents. n The childminder is a strong leader and shares joint responsibilities with a co- childminder. However, they do not have a precise approach to consistently implement the educational programmes, to firmly embed the curriculum and teaching. n The childminder works in partnership with parents to identify the needs of

Parents like that they have handover sessions and feedback is given regularly.
