p.1

The provision is outstanding

Children continuously grow in confidence. They explore and experiment, extending their learning resources. They make excellent use of the space available to extend their play and the time to finish their play to their own satisfaction. The childminder has high expectations for outdoor learning, particularly when children do not have access to outdoor play at home. These experiences highly enrich children's lives and give them the best possible outcomes. Children show exceptional levels of creativity and imagination. For example, they show care and compassion towards dolls, changing their nappies, feeding them and putting them to bed. The childminder supports the introduction of new siblings into their lives through sensitive approaches to caring for others.

p.2

The provision is outstanding

The children develop close friendships with their peers and with other children they know. This helps to support children's transitions when moving on to school together. Children behave exceptionally well. They learn to cooperate and negotiate in their play. The childminder promotes positive steps to support children's emotions and helps them to play cohesively with others. Children show highly impressive levels of self-esteem and self-worth. They celebrate their individuality and personalities, taking pride in their achievements, and they openly express their preferences in play. The childminder knows the children extremely well and works closely with all involved in their care. This helps to provide a consistent approach. Children are highly motivated to learn. They are eager to know more. The children absorb information like sponges, and they use this to develop a superb understanding of their learning.

need to do better?

n The childminder has a proactive approach to supporting children's learning. She uses her superb knowledge of how each child learns to support their next steps. She uses a calm and sensitive approach to test their knowledge, challenging their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make sense of the world. Children respond excitedly, flourishing in a positive learning environment. The childminder enhances all areas of learning through simple questions, tasks and exploration. For example, children concentrate for long periods of time. They listen carefully to the childminder's suggestions, working out how to balance resources, and cheering loudly when showing their finished creation to the childminder with glee. They explore the various spaces that items fit into. This practice highly supports children who sometimes lack confidence to try new activities. n Children use expressive language throughout their play. Older children use

language they have learned. For example, children describe babies in their 'mummies' tummies' and explain that they are 'pregnant'. The childminder

need to do better?

24 August 2022 reiterates this by explaining what the word means to support their understanding. Younger children chat constantly throughout their play, describing what they are doing. This is exaggerated greatly through children's gestures and expressions to show their reaction of awe and wonder. n The childminder provides excellent experiences to successfully enrich children's development and understanding of the world around them. She encourages children to share their experiences from home with others. For example, they celebrate cultural experiences from home, helping to deepen children's understanding of people and other communities other than their own. She takes children on many trips to extend their experiences. For example, watching bird displays to learn about different birds and their habitats. She uses these experiences to extend their understanding through conversations and recall on their return to the setting.

p.2

need to do better?

n Children use mathematical concepts and language throughout their play. They learn about numbers all around them. They discover shape and size, balance and colour through their choice of activities. They explore space by building with irregular shapes, tubes, cylinders and balls. Children feel proud of their achievements, and they are eager to extend this further by changing how they build to make towers higher and more complex. The childminder precisely uses her understanding of children's knowledge, testing and challenging this by encouraging children's curiosity as to what they can explore next. n The childminder works highly effectively with other professionals. For example, she discusses information with health visitors, other settings children attend and schools to successfully promote a consistent approach for children's learning. She liaises closely in order to close the gaps in children's learning to ensure they

excel in most of the areas of learning. She recognises the impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on children's language and social development. She works tirelessly to prolifically promote these particular areas in their development by concentrating on the children's language development and socialisation. n The childminder provides extremely positive support for parents with regard to reward and positive behaviour. She confidently shares successful strategies to fully support children's understanding of acceptable behaviour, helping them learn to cooperate and negotiate exceptionally well in their play.

p.3

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.

p.3

Safeguarding

The childminder has a robust knowledge of how to protect children from harm. She and her assistant complete regular training to provide a consistent approach to promoting children's welfare. They understand the signs and symptoms of abuse and know the procedures to follow to report concerns. Children learn how to keep themselves safe through practical learning. They assess risks together when on outings and share their knowledge with others. The childminder uses her knowledge of children's physical abilities to support them to safely complete new tasks, such as using large equipment and managing steps themselves.
