Previous inspection Requires improvement

p.1

This provision meets requirements

n Since the previous inspection, there have been changes to the way the childminder operates. She is currently taking a break from caring for young children. Measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the childminder operating on a smaller scale and working with her co-childminder less frequently. This meant she could focus on meeting the individual needs of fewer children, while preventing the spread of infection and keeping everyone safe. n The childminder demonstrates good levels of motivation which help her to maintain her knowledge and skills. Since the previous inspection, she has refreshed her training in first aid and safeguarding. She has enhanced this with training in supporting children's well-being and development. This means that she remains up to date with current guidance, ready for when she returns to early years childcare. n Partnerships and communication with parents are important to the childminder.

This provision meets requirements

She intends to make continued use of an online system, which helps to promote two-way communication between herself and children's parents. She will use this to establish information right from the start, to ensure that all children feel happy, settled and included in her care. The childminder also plans to use the information shared, to help her provide activities that respond to children's interests and specific learning needs. n The childminder has a secure understanding of the curriculum and how children learn. For example, she recognises the importance of supporting children's communication and language development. She intends to make routine use of books and singing to introduce children to new words and to help widen their vocabulary. The childminder demonstrates awareness of how to help children develop positive attitudes to learning. Since the previous inspection, she has reflected on ways to encourage children to think and make choices

independently. n The childminder understands her responsibility to safeguard children. She uses safety gates and cupboard catches as ways to help her ensure her home is a safe place to play. She understands potential indicators of abuse and is able to implement local reporting procedures. The childminder understands her procedures for promoting children's health and well-being, such as for administering medicine and responding to accidents.

p.2

This provision meets requirements

There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
