Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 1259178 1 Registered provider: Solid Global Limited
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home provides accommodation and therapeutic care for two children who are affected by mental ill health. It is owned and operated by a small private company.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The registered manager resigned in January 2022. A new manager has been appointed and is in the process of applying to register with Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit took place following an anonymous complaint sent to Ofsted raising safeguarding concerns.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Following the monitoring visit on 6 and 7 July 2022, a notice restricting the accommodation of new children at this home was issued on 8 July 2022. One compliance notice was also issued under regulation 13, relating to the leadership and management of the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
One child continues to live in the home. The provider has adhered to the notice of restriction and no children have moved into the home since the last visit.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection, the previously appointed manager has stepped down. A new manager has been appointed and has applied to register with Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The responsible individual is a practising clinician. As part of his role, he is assessing and providing treatment to the child in the home. The responsible individual and the child’s local authority have not clearly agreed the responsible individual’s level of engagement with the child and the scope of his clinical involvement. This means that professionals are not working collaboratively to meet the child’s needs and care planning is ineffective. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 1259178 2 The manager has started to review the staff’s safer recruitment checks. This was identified as a shortfall at the last inspection. Staff who have worked overseas still do not have good conduct certificates from the relevant countries. However, these have been requested. In addition, risk assessments and Disclosure and Barring Service checks have been completed. The manager was unable to demonstrate the

full extent of the progress made, due to records being disorganised and systems to monitor these checks not being in place.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff have undertaken training since the last inspection. All staff have completed behaviour management training. Some staff, including agency staff, have undertaken training in the home’s therapeutic model of care. The manager has not fully updated the training matrix, therefore, the monitoring of staff training and the ability to identify gaps in staff’s knowledge and skills is not yet fully developed.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Risk assessments and a behaviour support plan are in place to support the staff to care for the child. However, the manager and staff are not always quick enough to respond to emerging risks. For example, on the first day of the inspection, the child was able to gain access to the medication cupboard and knew the combination code to the safe where the medication was stored. On a number of occasions, the child has taken the keys to the home from staff. Immediate strategies to prevent this from happening again were not implemented. This has the potential to impact on the child’s safety. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 1259178 3
