The provision is good
Children are happy and engaged. They play together well, happily chatting with the childminder and each other. The childminder promotes good manners and role models playing alongside and with the children. She offers effective support to help children learn to share and take turns. She encourages them to play games together and explains why it is important to be kind to each other. She ensures younger children are fully included in conversations and games.
p.2
The provision is good
Children feel safe and secure, as the childminder knows them well. She has high expectations for what they can achieve. Children thoroughly enjoy daily outings to nearby parks and the beach to develop their skills. They talk excitedly about these experiences, looking back at photos and talking about what they did.
p.2
The provision is good
Children enjoy exploring the toys and resources on offer, such as drawing and colouring, and remain engaged with the activities provided. The childminder links what the children have been interested in to their learning, for instance by displaying where they have been recently to encourage further talk and conversation. Children are eager to share their achievements, proudly showing what they have made to the childminder, and they respond to the positive praise they receive. They talk excitedly about their next steps, such as getting ready for school and what they are learning.

need to do better?
n The childminder engages with the children, explaining games, playing with them and supporting them sensitively. She is patient and calm. She has a good awareness of where children are and what they need to learn next, and what she is focusing on to support their learning and development. n Children enjoy exploring the activities outside, such as the water tray and mud kitchen. They work together to mix the water and mud and talk about what they are doing. However, the childminder has not fully developed outdoor opportunities across all areas of learning, to further extend children's learning and offer them new challenges. n Children are able to follow their own interests and play happily. They are encouraged to help each other, for example by helping another child collect their things and saying goodbye. They learn good manners, such as saying 'please' and 'thank you'. n Children know the routines of the setting and happily explore a range of

The childminder communicates with parents effectively and keeps them up to date with how their child is progressing.
