Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: SC476326 1 SC476326 Registered provider: Cambian Childcare Limited
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is owned by a private company. It provides care for up to five children with social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home does not currently have a manager. One has been appointed and was due to start on 20 June 2022.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Following an interim inspection on 23 March 2022, the home was judged to have declined in effectiveness. Two compliance notices were issued, under regulations 13 and 32. The home was also issued with a notice restricting accommodation.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A full inspection was undertaken on 4 and 5 May 2022. At this inspection, the inspector found that the provider had not taken sufficient action to meet all aspects of the compliance notices and, as a result, they were reissued. A further compliance notice was issued under regulation 12. The notice restricting accommodation, which was issued on 25 March 2022, remained in place.
p.1
This monitoring visit
At this visit, the inspector found the provider had taken action to meet all but one aspect of the compliance notices issued.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection, the two children who were living at the home have moved to new placements and no new children have moved into the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The manager has resigned from his position. The provider has been proactive and recruited a new manager who was due to start the week after this visit. This manager has experience of being a registered manager with Ofsted. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: SC476326 2 The provider has continued to recruit staff for the home. However, there are insufficient experienced or qualified staff to care for children. As a result, the compliance notice in relation to regulation 13 and the notice restricting accommodation have been reissued. No new children may live at the home until Ofsted is assured there are sufficient staff to care for children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Managers have used safe recruitment practices when employing new staff. This helps to prevent those who should not work with children from doing so.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff have taken part in workshops and training to improve their safeguarding knowledge and practice. As a result, staff now understand the actions they should take to protect children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Due to there not being any children living at the home, the inspector was unable to fully assess all the requirements from the last inspection. The provider has retrospectively reviewed children’s documents and put in place an action plan and guidance for staff. Progress in meeting these requirements will be assessed at the next inspection.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The provider has made improvements to the home environment, with new carpets laid and walls repainted. As a result, the home is homely, clean and welcoming. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: SC476326 3
