This provision meets requirements

n The childminder keeps her knowledge of safeguarding up to date. For example, she has attended a number of training courses and reads information online. This contributes to her very good understanding of what to do if she is concerned about a child's welfare. n The childminder demonstrates a secure understanding of how to support young children's learning. She describes how she will observe children at play to help her to assess their abilities. She will then plan activities that help them to learn more. Her plans would be based on children's interests to help them to engage in activities and to motivate them to learn. She discusses a curriculum that is based on learning through play, and is flexible to meet the learning needs of the children attending. n The childminder talks about the importance of partnerships with parents. She describes how she will share information with them about their children's

learning, as well as ideas for how they could help with this at home. n Through discussion, the childminder explains how she will help children to develop an understanding of healthy lifestyles. She will provide healthy meals and snacks, and teach children about the benefits of nutritious foods, such as fruit and vegetables. She talks about the importance of fresh air and exercise, and plans to take the children on regular walks and outings. n Feedback from parents is important to the childminder. She would use this, alongside her knowledge of children's interests and preferences, to help her to review her practice. She talks about how she would use their ideas to help her to decide on new activities or experiences. n The childminder describes her positive approach to managing children's behaviour. She talks about the importance of a calm approach, explaining the reasons why children are expected to behave in a certain way.

n Inclusive practice is important to the childminder. She has experience of working with children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. She discusses how all children will be welcomed, valued and supported to reach their potential. n Areas intended for childcare are safe and suitable. The childminder has procedures to check her home for hazards to ensure children's safety while in her care. For example, she has fire blankets and smoke alarms in place that are checked regularly.

This provision meets requirements

There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
