Outcome summary

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage, which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Outcome summary

On 27 June 2022, the provider notified us of a serious injury to a child in their care. The notification means that the provider met their legal responsibility as set out in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage to notify Ofsted of any serious accident, illness, or injury to, or death of, any child while in their care and the action taken.

p.1

Outcome summary

On 29 June 2022 and 6 July 2022, we carried out a regulatory telephone call. We found the provider was not meeting some of the requirements. The provider had not notified the local child protection agencies of the serious injury to a child that occurred on their premises. In addition, some of the information required by the emergency services was not available or recorded on the child's record of information. The provider had also failed to inform parents of changes in routine activities for children during transition from room to room.

p.1

Outcome summary

We have issued actions for the provider to take. The provider will be able to give parents further information about this. The provider is still registered with Ofsted.

p.1

Outcome summary

strengthen the leadership and management team's knowledge and understanding of the notification requirements for informing other agencies with statutory responsibilities, including the local child protection agencies, without delay

p.1

Outcome summary

ensure parents are kept informed of the range and type of activities and experiences provided to children, including any changes to routine activities, and these are shared with parents on transition from room to room

p.1

Outcome summary

ensure children's personal information records are kept up to date.

p.1

Outcome summary

On 8 July 2022, the provider responded to the actions set. We found that the provider has improved their knowledge and understanding of the notification requirements for informing other agencies with statutory responsibilities of any serious accidents or incidents at nursery. They now fully understand their responsibilities. The provider has updated the parent handbook with more detailed information, including description of mealtimes, specific activities, and experiences to expect when children move from one group to another within the nursery setting. In addition, all children's record have been thoroughly checked to ensure that they hold GP details for every child and that addresses, contact number are up to date. The action taken by the provider will help prevent a reoccurrence.

p.1

Outcome summary

We are satisfied the provider has met the safeguarding and welfare actions raised. The provider is still registered with Ofsted.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We aim to ensure that the welfare of children and young people is protected in the services we regulate. The Childcare Act 2006 and accompanying regulations set out our responsibilities to regulate childminders and childcare providers. This includes the enforcement powers we have in relation to those registered providers who do not comply with the requirements for registration.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We publish details of any actions we take, or the childminder or childcare provider takes to bring about compliance with requirements on our website for a period of five years.
