Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC476262 1 SC476262 Registered provider: Cambian Childcare Limited
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This privately owned children’s home provides care for up to five children. The home specialises in providing 12-month therapeutic placements for children who have experienced, or are at significant risk of, child sexual exploitation.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The manager was appointed in November 2021 and is in the process of registering with Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
On 6 and 7 April 2021, Ofsted undertook a full inspection. The home was judged inadequate. In response to that visit, Ofsted issued a notice of restriction of accommodation and two compliance notices in respect of regulation 12 and 13.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this visit was to consider the home’s adherence to the notice of restriction and the progress made towards meeting the compliance notices. The provider has adhered to the restriction of accommodation and there are currently no children living at the home. The two compliance notices have not been reissued.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The manager and responsible individual have reviewed and reflected on the failings identified at the last full inspection. In response to this, they have implemented new monitoring and review systems, appointed a new independent person to review the quality of care in the home and updated all paperwork in the home. This includes risk assessments, behaviour management plans and supervision records. The effectiveness of these changes is untested due to no children living in the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
No new staff have been recruited to work in the home. As such, there is not enough staff to safely care for new children moving into the home. The manager has three staff available to work in the home and they are currently working in the provider’s other homes. The staff and managers have completed relevant training to prepare Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC476262 2 them for when children move into the home, for example safeguarding training, risks relating to child exploitation and children going missing from home. Further advanced training in these areas is planned to further improve the staff and managers’ knowledge.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A full review of the staff’s and managers’ competencies has been completed and personal development plans have been implemented to support their learning and development. In addition, discussions take place in supervisions and team meetings to explore the staff’s and managers’ understanding of the training they have completed.
p.2
This monitoring visit
As no children are living in the home, the effectiveness of the changes and progress made since the last inspection cannot be measured. The previous requirements made have not been reviewed as part of this inspection due to the end dates not having passed. Following this inspection, the notice of restriction remains in place due to the lack of staffing in the home. This is because it would be unsafe for children to move into the home.
