The provision is good
Children are happy and safe in this setting. They behave well and are incredibly polite. Children have close bonds with the childminder. The childminder offers settling-in sessions for children that are tailored to meet their individual needs. This helps children to settle quickly in this setting.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder has high expectations for children's learning. She plans activities that ignite children's curiosity. Children have great fun playing with different trains. They transport them along a wooden train track and watch them move at different speeds as they go over the bridge. Children also enjoy playing with dough. They develop the small muscles in their fingers and hands ready for writing activities. The childminder enhances children's learning by mirroring what they are doing. Children respond well to this and show high levels of engagement in activities. They choose what they want to play with and lead their own learning. This builds children's self-esteem.
p.2
The provision is good
Children learn about their own cultures and ways of life. This helps them to understand what makes them unique. They also learn about other faiths, beliefs and backgrounds. This supports them to understand about the diverse world around them.

need to do better?
n The childminder has a clear curriculum in place. This supports children to build on what they already know and can do. Children have great fun painting paper bowls and decorating them as pigs. Children explore mixing red and white paint to make pink. They enjoy painting their hands and making different patterns on paper. However, at times, the variety of materials and tools available to children during craft activities is limited. Therefore, children are not always able to fully express themselves freely. n The childminder extends children's communication and language development well. She supports children who speak English as an additional language to speak in their home language. The childminder also encourages children to learn and use English. She models new words and short sentences for children. This helps children to develop their growing vocabulary. Children express themselves well. n Children have good relationships with the nurturing childminder. They develop

For example, children wash their hands regularly, including after activities and before mealtimes. This helps children to learn some of the ways to keep themselves healthy. n The childminder is committed to improving her provision. She attends different training courses to help to develop her practice. The childminder has recently completed a training course to support children with their speech and language development. The childminder has incorporated some of the strategies that she learned on this course, such as getting down to the children's level and speaking in a clear voice to them. This helps all children to make good progress. n Parents comment that they are happy with the care that the childminder

provides their children. They express that the childminder's home is always welcoming, clean and well organised. Parents talk about how their children have great fun playing with all the toys available to them. They feel that this setting is supporting their children to grow into confident and self-assured children. n The childminder has not yet established relationships with other settings involved in the care and education of children. She does not alway share important information regarding children's learning, such as assessments of their development. Therefore, children do not always benefit from continuity in their learning.
p.3
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder has a good knowledge and understanding of the possible signs and symptoms of abuse. She knows how to correctly report concerns about the welfare of children. The childminder is aware of how to report any allegations made against her or another member of her household. The childminder is trained in paediatric first aid and keeps this up to date. This helps to keep children safe. The childminder carries out regular checks of the indoor and outdoor environment and removes any hazards. There is an emergency evacuation procedure in place that the childminder practises regularly with the children.
