The provision is good
Children thrive and form secure relationships with the childminder in this welcoming, safe and homely environment. The childminder gives children plenty of love and cuddles, which helps them to settle. Children are eager to learn and play. They bound into the playroom, settle quickly and enjoy exploring the activities that are freely available. Children's independence is supported well. Children independently put on their own coats when they want to play outdoors. The childminder shows high expectations for children's development. Children are very happy and easily engage in activities, concentrating for long periods given their age.
p.2
The provision is good
Children behave well, as the childminder consistently demonstrates positive behaviours through good role modelling. She provides age-appropriate explanations to aid children's understanding. This supports children to regulate their own behaviour.
p.2
The provision is good
Children have daily opportunities to explore their local community, and activities are planned outside the home. Children take a trip to the dentist. They sit in the chair and bring home their own toothpaste and toothbrush. This introduces children to new social experiences. Children learn the importance of oral health. They listen to the story 'Over on the Farm' and enjoy repeating and counting the numbers out loud. They confidently make the noises of the animals. At snack times, children are encouraged to try a range of healthy foods. This supports them to become independent eaters.

need to do better?
n The childminder has constructed a curriculum that is designed to support children's learning and give them the knowledge to succeed and make good progress. She has created an environment indoors and outdoors that supports the intent of this ambitious curriculum. However, the childminder does not always implement this curriculum effectively. Her planning does not always focus precisely enough on building on what children already know and can do. Therefore, at times, children are not challenged in their learning. n The childminder has established very strong partnerships with parents. Parents speak incredibly positively about the childminder. They state, 'My children are safe and welcomed,' and that the childminder goes 'above and beyond' in caring for their children. Parents comment that they feel like part of the family. They also feel that the childminder is very knowledgeable and 'has a passion to

28 April 2022 to learn about similarities and differences beyond their own experiences. Therefore, children do not consistently deepen their understanding of the diverse world around them. n The childminder shows clear ambition and passion for her role and the future of the setting. She has systems to self-reflect and evaluate her provision. The childminder puts plans in place to make improvements, including extending the garden area to provide more space for the children to play. n The childminder understands that children are all individuals. She ensures that she provides a variety of experiences for children. The childminder plans activities that capture children's interest. For example, the children like playing outdoors. Therefore, they take regular walks around the local community. This helps children with their physical development. Furthermore, children develop their social skills as they meet new people.

need to do better?
n The childminder's training is frequently updated with online webinars and training sessions to improve her professional development. She reflects on her practice and continues to build on her knowledge and skills. For example, the childminder has completed a course on understanding children's behaviour. This helps her to support the children in her care. Consequently, children develop self-control and are learning how their behaviour has an impact on others. n The childminder encourages children to join in with lots of singing activities to promote their communication and language development. She engages the children in stories. This encourages conversations and supports children's growing vocabulary.

Safeguarding
The childminder has an excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection. She ensures that her knowledge is up to date by attending regular training.
