The home provides a safe and suitable environment for the child to live in. Some rooms are enhanced with photographs and pictures. The child’s bedroom is personalised. Inspection report for children’s home: 2575551 3 Physically holding the child only occurs to keep the child safe from harm. These incidents have been minimal. When they occur, these events are routinely assessed and reviewed by the manager. Safeguarding procedures have been followed after an allegation was made. These actions make sure that the child remains safe from harm.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The manager has acted and implemented the requirements made at the last inspection. These include a detailed impact risk assessment and supporting information. This demonstrates that the child’s needs can be met by the staff and are in line with the home’s statement of purpose. The staff can manage children’s behaviour more effectively. Serious incidents have significantly reduced. The relevant information has been sent to Ofsted to keep them fully updated.

p.3

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

High staffing levels provide the child with the correct support and supervision. This affords the child continual attention, care and the assistance that they require.

p.3

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Staff receive mandatory training that enables them to carry out their duties. This includes physical intervention, safeguarding and first aid. More specialist training has been undertaken to support meeting the child’s needs in child criminal exploitation, self-harm and global development disorder.

p.3

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The staff receive regular supervision, staff meetings and shift handovers that ensure good communication within the team. In turn, this supports the delivery of consistent care to the child. There is good teamwork and staff morale. Thorough internal and external monitoring of the service enables deficits and omissions to be detected promptly. Recommendations

 The registered persons should ensure that the children’s home provides a nurturing and supportive environment that meet the needs of their children. Children’s homes will, in most cases, be homely, domestic environments. In doing so, homes should seek as far as possible to maintain a domestic rather than ‘institutional’ impression. In particular, ensure that the standard of decoration, furnishings and fittings are of a high standard. Ensure that all floor coverings are in good repair. (‘Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations, including the quality standards,’ page 15, paragraph 3.9)
