One child is living at the home. Unfortunately, the child was not available to speak to during the inspection. The inspection was supported by the responsible individual and a manager from one of the provider’s other homes.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Following the last inspection, the child has made positive progress in various aspects of their life. The manager has provided good challenge to social workers through strategy meetings and has supported the child to have increased overnight visits to family. These have recently been expanded to include weekends. As a result, the number of times that the child has been missing from home has reduced. When the child is missing from the home, staff have a clear protocol to follow, and the recording of steps taken in response has improved.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Additional measures were introduced in the home to allow staff to better monitor the child’s movements. The use of the monitoring has been included in the home’s statement of purpose and is agreed with social workers. However, the measures have been continually assessed and, as a result of a reduction in risks, the sensors that trigger when external doors have been opened have been deactivated.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The child now has an identified placement at school. At the time of the inspection, the placement had only been effective for a number of days. The child will need to be supported to remain engaged. They had not attended school on the day of the inspection and were missing, although they had responded to contact from staff.
p.2

Staff receive training that supports them to understand specific concerns in relation to the child, in addition to generic learning. Training is discussed during supervision, which also allows an opportunity for reflective learning around care practice. Supervision is carried out regularly, and staff say they can speak to the manager about any concerns at any time.
p.2

This includes ensuring that the staff help the visitor to seek feedback from other professionals and others who are important in the child’s life. Although a review of the quality of care report has not been submitted since the last inspection, work has been completed to ensure that it is more evaluative.
