p.1
The provision is good
Children form secure attachments with the childminder and arrive excited to learn. The environment is well organised, and children independently access activities and resources to extend their play. Children are confident communicators; they engage in conversation with the childminder and visitors, who listen with interest as they openly talk about friends and family. Children learn the importance of good oral health by exploring a dentist kit and discussing how they brush their teeth. The children giggle as they explore the toothbrushes and wind-up teeth. Children's behaviour is good. They willingly play together and have a caring nature towards one another.
p.2
The provision is good
Children engage in the community by attending local playgroups with the childminder where they gain new social experiences, sing songs and engage in creative activities. Children enjoy the childminder's garden and receive support to take part in a range of physical activities, for example, hide and seek. Although parents have been unable to enter the setting due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they do value the good levels of communication and support from the childminder. They describe the childminder as warm and friendly, regarding her as part of their 'family'.

need to do better?
n Children become confident communicators in this language-rich environment. The childminder supports language development well by repeating what children say back to them with the correct pronunciation. When babies babble, the childminder talks to them, modelling language to support them in being able to hear and learn to form words. Older children look at photos. They talk about themselves, their artwork, and friends while recalling past experiences. n The childminder meets with other childminders to share knowledge, ideas and resources, which she uses to enhance her knowledge and practice. The childminder regularly evaluates her practice by gaining feedback from parents, children and other childminders. n The childminder has a good understanding of children's next steps and how they learn. She implements a curriculum that focuses on the children's interests and individual needs. However, occasionally, the childminder asks questions or fixes

something without giving the children time to answer or solve problems for themselves. n Children are kind and caring to each other. They are encouraged to resolve minor conflicts between themselves and seek support when needed. n The childminder gains key information from parents about children's routines, interests and current learning and development, to gain a clear understanding of what their child already knows, and plan for their next steps of learning.
p.2
need to do better?
5 April 2022 n Children are beginning to develop their independence. However, at times, the childminder completes tasks for the children instead of letting them have a go themselves.
p.2
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder knows the different types of abuse along with the signs and symptoms. She has a good understanding of wider safeguarding issues and how to report any concerns. The childminder knows the steps to take if she is concerned about a child or a child makes a disclosure. The childminder understands who to contact if an allegation is made against herself or a member of her household. The childminder completes regular risk assessments to ensure the premises are safe and secure.

should:
n allow children time for thinking, problem-solving and expressing their ideas n develop children's independence further, so they have opportunities to do things themselves.
