This monitoring visit
This children’s home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 2 and 3 February 2022. Following the full inspection, a notice suspending registration of this home was issued on 3 February 2022 until 27 April 2022. During this visit, inspectors found that the home had complied with the suspension notice.

The registered manager post is vacant. There are now two deputy managers in post and recruitment is ongoing for a suitably experienced and qualified registered manager.

p.1
This monitoring visit
There have been improvements to the home environment since the last inspection. Damage to walls and the external front door has been repaired and the home has been redecorated throughout to a high standard. Children’s bedrooms are freshly decorated and awaiting the arrival of new children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and staff have had opportunities to meet since the last inspection. The focus of these meetings has been to address gaps in training and discuss the necessary improvements that are being made.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The staff team has started a programme of training to address the gaps in staff’s skills and knowledge. Safeguarding training has been refreshed for staff, and leaders and managers are scheduled to attend enhanced safeguarding training. Staff have also attended workshops around behaviour management, and some in-house training has been provided by the home’s clinical psychologist.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The deputy manager has undertaken an audit of personnel files so that any missing information can be obtained. The human resources manager has now had relevant training to improve their knowledge and understanding of safer recruitment practice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Following the inspection, a case review was held. A decision was reached that the suspension notice should remain in place. This will allow leaders and managers to continue to make necessary improvements in line with their development plan, including the recruitment of an experienced manager for the home.
