p.1
Information about this children’s home
The manager has been registered with Ofsted for this home since it opened and has worked as a registered manager in children’s homes since 2013.
p.1
This monitoring visit
On 9 June 2021, a full inspection was completed, and the home was judged to be requires improvement to be good. On 11 January 2022, an interim inspection was completed and the home was judged to have sustained effectiveness. Due to the lack of progress in meeting some requirements raised at the full inspection, two compliance notices were issued under regulation 12 and regulation 13.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit was carried out to review the action that the provider has taken to meet the two compliance notices. In addition, the inspector reviewed action taken by the provider to meet a requirement raised under regulation 33 and regulation 44. The inspector found that managers have made sufficient progress for both compliance notices under regulation 12 and 13 to be considered met.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There are 11 children currently live in the home. Two children have moved into the home since the interim inspection.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Managers have implemented new systems to oversee the home. This has supported them to identify any gaps in statutory paperwork for children and they have ensured that all relevant documents have now been received. Managers are meeting regularly to share information pertinent to the care of children. Staff are receiving Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 1273663 2 regular supervision sessions. As a result, the registered manager has a better understanding and oversight of the service.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Managers have ensured that the home is a safe and homely environment for children to live. Shortfalls raised at the previous inspection have been rectified and the home has undergone redecoration, including the renovation of the bathrooms. There are systems in place to ensure that any future maintenance issued are addressed in a timely manner. This includes the employment of a new facilities manager.
p.2

Staff, including the registered manager, are receiving regular practice-based supervision sessions. This ensures that there is an opportunity to formally review the progress of staff and support their development.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Two new requirements under regulation 13 and 45 have been raised because of this monitoring visit. Managers have failed to ensure that all staff are trained to meet the individual needs of a child diagnosed with a new lifelong illness. This means staff may not be well informed about how to respond to the child’s needs. This leaves the child at risk of becoming unwell. In recognition of this, managers ensured that training was available for staff the following day.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The registered manager has completed a quality of care. However, this review does not provide sufficient detail to meet the requirements of regulation 45. The registered manager recognises the weaknesses and feels confident that with the new auditing systems in place they will be better prepared to produce a more meaningful report for the next 6 months.
p.2
