p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
At this interim inspection, Ofsted judged that it has sustained effectiveness.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Since the last inspection one child continued to live in the home before moving out in October 2021. Staff supported the child to move to their new home and helped them to settle in. This move was undertaken in a professional, caring and sensitive manner.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
For a period following the last inspection, incidents of the child going missing increased. Staff took effective action to look for the child and to keep in contact with them to ensure their safe return home. When the child returned home, staff held discussions with them about what happened and provided good care and support. However, independent return home interviews did not always take place.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Concerns over the child’s safety and welfare were taken seriously; leaders and managers worked in partnership with the placing authority and police to review the risks and agree safety plans. Good attendance at school and involvement in positive community activities provided helpful protective factors to the child. In addition, actions taken because of multi-agency meetings also helped to reduce further missing from home incidents.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Since the last inspection, Ofsted received an anonymous complaint about the home. Following consultation with the placing authority and safeguarding agencies, it was agreed that an independent internal investigation should take place. This investigation has taken place, and the organisation has devised an effective action plan to address the recommendations made.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Generally, leaders and managers ensure that they have a regular oversight of the records of incidents, accidents and missing-from-home episodes. However, the most recent quality of care report does not record the number of missing from home incidents accurately. In addition, some incident records do not contain careful, objective and clear recording.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Staff take effective action to ensure that children receive professional support in relation to their mental health. In addition, staff ensure that effective action is taken when a child self-harms, requires first aid or needs medical treatment. However, as there are no children currently living at the home, the inspector could not ascertain whether children are consistently supported to develop healthy behaviours. This was a requirement made at the last inspection and will be reviewed further at the next inspection. Inspection report for children’s home: SC468747 3 Leaders and managers have recently completed a detailed review of the quality of care that clearly identifies areas for improvement. In addition, the manager has devised a plan to improve the environment of the home and timely progress has been made. Leaders and managers respond effectively to recommendations made by the independent visitor.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
One of the three requirements made at the last inspection has been fully met. As no children are living at the home at the time of this inspection it is not possible to assess the impact of actions taken in response to one other previous requirement and a recommendation. These have been restated to be reviewed further at the next inspection. Inspection report for children’s home: SC468747 4
