Since the last inspection, the manager, staff and children in this home have changed. This follows a children’s home exchange to a bigger property within the organisation. The planned move enabled the manager and staff to make progress with the child’s plan and to introduce another child.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager and staff form part of an experienced and skilled team that effectively meets the children’s needs. Staff provide consistent and supportive care to one child who has made significant progress in all areas of his life. The child continues to engage fully at school. He reads and is much more self-sufficient. He now attends a youth club and other after-school activities where he has made friends. Staff have supported him to develop his resilience and confidence to a level where he can welcome and accept another child into the home.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The child confirms that he feels safe and can talk to staff about any concerns. Staff undertake comprehensive risk assessments to provide the strategies they need to manage identified risks. These have vastly reduced during his time at the home. For example, staff support him around his bedtime routine, and he no longer takes medication to help him sleep.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager has carefully planned and introduced a second child to the home. She has worked in partnership with other agencies to make sure that the placement of another child is achieved in a timely way. The manager is mindful of each child’s need to avoid delay in the development of their plans for the future.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager and staff work closely together to make sure that each child has the time and space to meet their emotional needs. Staff have redecorated the children’s bedrooms to reflect their interests. For example, staff have adapted one child’s bedroom to create a safe and secure space with extra bedding and a canopy over the bed. They have redesigned the garden into various areas for the children’s activities.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager and staff are working together with one child’s family to enable him to settle into his new home. They make regular contact, which is reducing the family’s and the child’s anxieties about his recent move to the home. For example, since his arrival, the child has returned to school and has slept well overnight for the first time in several months.
