Despite their personal challenges, children settle at the home and make progress. There has been a reduction in significant incidents. Staff attribute this to the establishment of good relationships with the children which means they will seek help and share their worries. Any complaints that are received are appropriately escalated and responded to, which provides reassurance that the well-being of children is prioritised. The manager is knowledgeable and experienced and has a comprehensive understanding of the needs and vulnerabilities of the children.
p.2

When children have needs outside the expertise of staff, this is recognised, and plans are made to find them somewhere more appropriate to live. Staff access clinical supervision so that they are more knowledgeable to meet the children’s needs. The professional network is also expanded to include appropriate specialist people to advise on care planning and delivery. This provides the children with stability and consistency, which for some is unprecedented.

children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Shortfalls relating to children’s risk assessments that were identified at the previous inspection have improved. These documents now have adequate description of mitigating strategies and actions for staff to use and this promotes children’s safety. Staff work closely with other parents and carers in the community if children are influenced by, or subjected to, peer pressure. They adopt a joint approach to keeping all children safer. This coordinated response increases the effectiveness of actions taken to safeguard children.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Managers and staff follow policies and work with others to try to minimise the online safety of children, and this has resulted in a reduction in incidents. However, the children still have long periods of unsupervised time when using electronic devices and phones. This does not assure the staff that the content children view or the people they engage with are suitable. There are strategies in place to have oversight of phones and devices, but these are not wholly effective. This has led to children developing friendships with peers who encourage risky behaviours.

Managers and staff have established good working relationships with other social care and mental health professionals. These professionals hold them in high regard and speak positively about the commitment and skill of staff. Staff work hard to remove barriers to education which have resulted in children being more focused in their learning. This helps children to achieve and increases their opportunities in the longer term. Inspection report for children’s home: SC457308 3 Managers have a range of tools which are effective in monitoring the quality of care. Staff have a good knowledge of the content of children’s care plans and align with these to deliver good care. There have been a number of staffing challenges as a result of the pandemic, and during these times the manager has prioritised the day- to-day care of the children. Although some administrative tasks have been forfeited, this approach has resulted in the continuity of care, resulting in children being
