p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

At this interim inspection, Ofsted judged that it has sustained effectiveness.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

At the last inspection in July 2021, five requirements and two recommendations were raised. At this inspection, the inspector determined that four requirements and two recommendations had been met. One requirement, under regulation 12, the protection of children standard, is not met and has been restated.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Since the last inspection, one child has moved out of the home, and one child has moved in. These moves have been well planned. The two children currently living in the home are settled, get on well with each other and are making progress. This is because, before they moved in, appropriate consideration was given to their individual needs and how suitable it would be for them to live together.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Children have formed positive relationships with staff and, because of this, are relaxed in their company. One child told the inspector that he enjoys spending time with the staff and he likes doing fun things with them, such as attending a local football match.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Children are aware of the home’s complaints procedure. The management team responds to children’s complaints promptly and ensures that children are informed of the outcome of their complaints. This supports children to have a voice and makes them feel that their concerns are listened to.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The managers ensure that new members of staff are recruited safely and have access to a range of training. As a result, staff feel supported and kept up to date with their learning.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Managers have addressed previously identified fire safety concerns and now ensure that fire safety in the home is suitably assessed and precautions are adhered to.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Staff know the children well and work hard to support them. However, written records, including placement plans, behaviour management plans and risk assessments, do not always provide staff with clarity on what they should do to protect children and promote their welfare. For example, one child’s risk assessment failed to include records of incidents of self-harmful behaviours.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Staff undertake direct work with children to give them advice and guidance on a range of topics. However, this work is not always linked to what is set out in children’s plans or related to children’s current behaviours. This disorganised Inspection report children's home: SC068261 3 approach means that children do not always get the help and support that they need at the right time.
