p.1
The provision is good
Children have a close relationship with the childminder. They enjoy her company and feel safe in her care. Children comb the childminder's hair as they pretend to be hairdressers and show her the result in the mirror once they have finished. Children behave well and cooperate as they play together imaginatively with their dolls. They learn to resolve their disputes about sharing and taking turns through gentle reminders from the childminder.
p.2
The provision is good
Children are inspired by what is on offer. They show a deep interest in books and stories, which are skilfully linked to the topic that is being taught. For example, in relation to Chinese New Year, children listen intently to a story about a tiger who came for tea and how it ate all the food in the house. They confidently recall what happened and talk about their ideas. Children also thoroughly enjoy using instruments and a blanket to recreate a dragon dance that they have watched. They think about how it moved, the sounds they heard, and the colours they saw.
p.2
The provision is good
Children are creative and active learners. They thoroughly enjoy physical play activities. They show high levels of engagement as they take part in a yoga session. For example, children easily follow instruction, move their bodies in a variety of ways, and think about the animal poses they make.

need to do better?
n The childminder carefully plans an educational programme, which is centred on the changing seasons, various topics, festivals and children's interests. She places a clear focus on offering rich opportunities for children to explore and investigate their natural environment. This is used as a good base to teach children and helps them to make good progress in all areas. n The childminder has good subject knowledge of what she teaches and places a clear focus on supporting children's communication and language during her interactions. New vocabulary, concepts and ideas are introduced to children and reinforced to help them retain what they learn. n The childminder manages the mixed age group well to keep them safe, and children learn to show care and concern for others. However, on occasions, the childminder does not help the youngest children as well as possible to make the most of the experiences on offer, particularly during planned group activities.
p.2
need to do better?
n The childminder has good professional working relationships with parents and offers guidance to them on how they can support their children. Parents report that they are extremely impressed by the care their children receive and the progress they make. They appreciate the information they receive about the activities on offer, what their children will be learning, and the progress they make.
p.2
need to do better?
1 February 2022 n Children thoroughly enjoy their fruit during snack time and know it benefits their health. The childminder teaches children about limiting sugar in their diet and the impact of a high-sugar diet on their teeth. Children learn that exercise is good for their bodies and about the importance of relaxation and stretching. They also understand the benefit of drinking water after physical activity. n The childminder provides good opportunities for children to make marks and write as they use a varied range of art and craft activities. Children use mathematical language as they talk about size and weight. However, the childminder does not consistently use her curriculum to develop all aspects of mathematics. This means that there are fewer opportunities for older children to recognise numbers and link numbers to the correct amounts as they play.
p.2
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder has a good understanding of child protection issues and the procedure to follow if she has a concern about a child. All adults living in the household are vetted and suitable. There are clear procedures in place to keep children safe in the car and on outings. The environment is checked daily to ensure the home is safe and clean prior to children arriving. The childminder does not allow children to freely use electronic devices that are linked to the internet. She prioritises teaching children to respect their own bodies and learn how to keep themselves safe.
