p.1
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
This home was judged requires improvement to be good at the last full inspection. At this interim inspection, Ofsted judged that it has declined in effectiveness.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Two requirements set at the last inspection have not been met within the given timescales. One of these requirements related to potentially unsafe staff recruitment procedures. Although the matter has now been addressed, the actions of managers were not prompt enough.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The other requirement related to a lack of management oversight of the quality of care. This requirement is repeated. Care arrangements, maintenance systems and performance management systems have not been adequately overseen by the registered manager or the responsible individual. Managers have not recognised or addressed weaknesses in the operation of the home.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
A recommendation made at the last inspection about staff not having formal supervision meetings with their manager is also unmet. There are still some staff who have not had appropriate supervision meetings with their manager. Potential concerns about some staff members’ practice have gone unnoticed by managers and therefore have not been addressed.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Some children’s bedrooms are unhygienic and poorly maintained. Staff and managers have failed to ensure a basic level of cleanliness in bedrooms. As a result, children have not been provided with a nurturing, positive home environment. Staff and managers have not developed effective strategies to support children to maintain appropriate standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Other parts of the home also appear uncared for. Damage is not repaired quickly enough. There are few ornaments or other homely touches. Some communal areas have not been cleaned to a high standard. As a result, children do not learn to take pride in their environment.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
There is evidence that some children are making progress in some areas. For example, one child has started going to the school of their choice, and there are reports of some very positive relationships between staff and children. However, significant improvement is required before children receive a consistently good quality of care.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
To support rapid improvement, Ofsted has issued two compliance notices. Inspection report for children’s home: 2627088 3
