children and young people since the most recent full inspection
This home was judged to require improvement to be good at the last full inspection. At this interim inspection, Ofsted judges that it has improved effectiveness.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Staff and children are benefiting from very good leadership. The manager is qualified with a diploma level 5, in leadership and management. The manager has now applied to become registered with Ofsted. This demonstrates her commitment to this home.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager has driven significant improvements since the full inspection in April 2021. She rapidly responded to the shortfalls identified. She quickly and successfully implemented an action plan to meet the statutory requirements and recommendations set at that inspection. The manager and staff are driven to improve the care and support being provided to the children.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager has improved all areas of the home’s environment. A good standard of decoration, furnishing and cleanliness provides a warm, welcoming and safe home for children to enjoy. Children take pride in their bedrooms. This is a place where they can play and relax. Children make their bedrooms their own with toys and decoration that reflect their interests.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager demonstrates she knows the children well. She communicates with children and has developed good relationships with them. The manager and staff understand children’s individual needs and work hard to ensure that they have the services in place to help children make progress.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
There have been incidents of concern since the last inspection. The manager has ensured that Ofsted has been notified quickly following incidents. Staff actions in response to incidents have been very good. Staff, at times, have had to act quickly and decisively to prevent children harming themselves. Staff have demonstrated resilience and determination to keep children safe.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
One child moved to an alternative placement following a serious incident. The placing authority was slow to identify an appropriate placement, despite the manager clearly stating that staff were unable to keep the child safe. Staff worked tirelessly to keep this child safe in very complex circumstances. Therapeutic supervision and support were offered to the staff following the child’s leaving the home. This provided a safe space for the staff to reflect and recover from a challenging period.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The home has become a settled environment for the children to live in and enjoy. The manager and staff provide a good standard of individualised care to children. Inspection report for children’s home: 2539201 3 Children are already making very good progress. This is very good when considering the relatively short period of time the children have been there.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager acted quickly and secured one child an alternative education provision, which he is now attending every day. This contrasts with previous poor attendance in education and signifies significant progress.
p.3
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Children enjoy a wide range of activities and varied opportunities. For example, at Christmas, children enjoyed a day out ice-skating. Another child enjoyed having their family visit them on Christmas day. The children enjoyed spending time with each other and staff, making Christmas a fun and memorable time for all.
p.3
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager and staff work effectively with external professional agencies and parents. This supports care planning for children and maintains important relationships for children who live at some distance from home.
p.3
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The staff team has remained stable since the last inspection. The manager has worked hard to provide structured support to staff. She has established an improved recording system for supervision sessions. Records from supervision sessions are now up to date and kept electronically. Staff benefit from the support of the manager, and they value this support. Inspection report for children’s home: 2539201 4
