Information about this children’s home
There has been no registered manager since 29 November 2021. A new manager started in November 2021 but has not yet applied to register with Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
During a full inspection on 30 November and 1 December 2021, Ofsted judged the home to be inadequate. Serious and widespread failures in safeguarding, staff recruitment, staff skill and leadership were identified. At the full inspection, six requirements were made. During this inspection, progress has been seen in respect of five of the requirements, however, none are yet fully met.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have developed their curiosity and critical thinking about incidents and episodes of children going missing. However, this is not yet fully embedded as staff are not consistently following agreed safety plans or directions from senior leaders. Leaders and managers had identified this and an investigation into staff performance was in progress at the time of the inspection. An improved group living risk assessment identifies how staff will support children to be safe together. Leaders have identified that the home could not keep one child safe and the child has now moved on.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Senior leaders have taken decisive action to restructure leadership in the home. This has included another manager and senior in the organisation providing a mentoring role in the home to raise standards. As a result, new monitoring systems have been developed and risk assessments reviewed and streamlined. Leaders have escalated concerns about delays in children receiving education. As a result, children are now provided with tuition but are not yet in school. Staff have received additional training Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2611536 2 on county lines, child exploitation, drugs and alcohol misuse and online exploitation.
